    amdgpu-pro Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

      I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, 64b with your proprietary driver.

      uname -a

      Linux mypcname 4.10.0-37-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 6 22:42:59 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

      Cinnamon is often quitting, some Steam games I have bought are not to be started and fail with following errors, so the money is wasted:

      ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/myusername/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.

      myusername@mypcname:~$ glxinfo | grep libGL

      Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

      Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

      Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

      myusername@mypcname:~$ glxgears

      Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

      XIO:  fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0"

            after 7582 requests (7582 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

      Steam community have struggled a lot for these issues, but I see not only Steam have troubles here, my desktop environment and basic test software also have issues, only tracable to your software. Some time ago Nvidia was an option, now I do not know what is best.

      Can I get some support here?

          I am using the drivers from the 17.50 package, and have Linux Mint 18.3 and encounter the same problem.

          $ glxinfo | grep OpenGL

          Xlib:  extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0".

          OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

          OpenGL renderer string: Radeon RX 560 Series

          OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5.13505 Core Profile Context 17.50.2.13

          ....

          $ uname -a

          Linux alligator 4.10.0-35-generic #39~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 13 09:02:42 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

            I have solved this problem by removing the amdgpu_drv.so and the radeon_drv.so files from the standard Xorg installation:

            /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers $> mkdir ../.bak && mv amdgpu_drv.so radeon_drv.so ../.bak/
            /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers $> ls -l ../.bak/amdgpu_drv.so
            -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 144352 Mär 20 13:02 ../.bak/amdgpu_drv.so
            /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers $> ls -l /opt/amdgpu/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/amdgpu_drv.so
            -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 169216 Jun 15 01:17 /opt/amdgpu/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/amdgpu_drv.so
            /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers $> glxinfo | grep -i opengl
            OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
            OpenGL renderer string: Radeon RX 580 Series

            /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers $> cat /etc/os-release
            NAME="Ubuntu"
            VERSION="18.04.1 LTS (Bionic Beaver)"
            ID=ubuntu
            ID_LIKE=debian
            PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS"
            VERSION_ID="18.04"
            HOME_URL="https://www.ubuntu.com/"

            UBUNTU_CODENAME=bionic

            After that, I have restarted the Xorg and now the error 'Xlib: extension "AMDGPU" missing on display ":0"' is gone.
