    anime4000

Recent driver update, I notice there are 2nd monitor that I didn't connect.

do screen capture, there are non-exist second monitor running 640x480 resolution.

I only have 1 monitor, which is Samsung LC24FG70FQEXXM connected via DisplayPort

what happens when you uninstall the second monitor from Device Manager?  Also does your MoBo have integrated graphics on it.?

              AMD FX 8320

              Gigabyte 990FX-Gaming
              Sapphire RX470 4GB

I tried to remove, it come back, the 2nd monitor was connected to "Microsoft Basic Display"... I not sure why this driver still activated...
I tried to reformat Windows 10, still... no luck...

If monitor problem, ok... I disconnect, using TeamViewer, the real monitor gone from device manager, well, not monitor problem... sometime can't view BIOS screen

If you are able to, Uninstall the AMD drivers from Windows Uninstall and then go to safe mode and use DDU to uninstall the AMD driver. Then reinstall it again. This is the latest AMD Driver set for your RX470: Desktop

Download the full set and reinstall. Make sure your Windows 10 is fully updated before reinstalling the AMD drivers.

I guess, do reformat, re-install fresh windows and run update...

Install AMD Driver, using link that you give.

                        Install Samsung monitor driver.

Non-exist monitor still listed on device manager

Change Device Manager view: Device by Connection

Radeon (TM) RX 470 Graphics -> Samsung LC24FG70FQEXXM

Microsoft Basic Display -> Generic Non-PnP Monitor

AMD 990FX Chipset don't have integrated display right?

I try disable non-exist monitor, no luck,

Team Viewer still detect my PC have 2 monitor.

                        Screenshot, still have 640x480 + 1920x1080.

                        ---

Actually before install driver & update, non-exist monitor still there...

maybe try using Windows 7? I think my CPU/GPU did not support latest iteration of Windows 10

I had something similar happen a few years ago with a non-existent graphics card. Try this > Uninstall Hidden Devices, Drivers, and Services

Before I proceed format to Windows 7, I tried this, it didn't work...

I tried change GPU, it didn't work also... it seem "Microsoft Basic Display" exist somewhere inside my 990FX motherboard.

When I try using Windows 7, non-exist monitor is gone!

Oh, by the way, between Windows 10 > Windows 7 I had to change GPT to MBR disk.

And then I format Windows 10, ghost monitor appear!!!

feel like Windows 10 cause the bug... not driver, since RADEON SETTINGS only see my sole monitor

                        ---

                        What I discover:

                        Monitor: No problem

                        GPU: No problem

                        Motherboard: Maybe?

                        Driver: No problem

                        Windows 7: Ghost monitor gone

                        Windows 10: Ghost monitor exist

                          I found the problem!

I format Windows 10 UEFI, it boot with "Microsoft Basic Display".

Now I format Windows 10 Legacy, problem solved!

I don't think AMD 990FX support UEFI native, cause chipset create non-exist GPU which Windows 10 sense GPU inside 990FX
