I'm still waiting for new drivers 17.8.2 for Windows 8.1, but AMD forgot about us (w8.1 users) Thats actually so sad... Also seems AMD forgot about their RX480\470 users, no fixes, no perfomance improvements...
AMD Ends Windows 8.1 32-bit Support with Latest Radeon Software Release | techPowerUp
Thanks for reply... But I'm talking about Windows 8.1 64-bit version only
Last one driver is Crimson ReLive Edition 17.7.1 Optional, and its unstable as hell...
There will be no further drivers released for Windows 8.1
I there an Official AMD Annoucement stating no more Windows 64bit Graphics drivers?I wanted to stay on Windows 8.1 64bit OS. Whilst I migrate to Linux. I knew about Window 8.1 32 bit support getting dropped. That was announced. I can understand that. I think there are still many people on Windows 8.1 64bit, that OS is supposed to be supported for years still and Nvidia still provide the drivers for it. Thanks.
Tottaly agree mate.
Also, MS still supports Windows 8.1 - mainstream support ends - 2018, extended support ends - 2023... But no new drivers, no fixes, no improvements... Even Windows 7 has new 17.8.2 drivers, Its not fair. If AMD decided forget about us - it will be last one GPU which i bought, next time I'll take Nvidia GPU, even if Nvidia's GPU more expensive, and has worse perfomance, but with better support
Here is the Windows Support Schedule. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet AMD dropping Windows 8.1 64 bit support is practically forcing Windows 8.1 64bit Users to upgrade to Windows 10 over 5 years earlier than end of Extended Support.
I think that is pretty bad to be honest.
No one is using 8.1 or 7.
Almost everybody have udpate to windows 10, you should do the same.
RE: No one is using 8.1 or 7.
Not true easily 6-10% still on Windows 8.1 and I maybe 40-50% on still running Windows 7 as their Main OS.
I have another post where I put out very recent statistics on that.
Microsoft forced "non reversible" upgrade on many people without their knowledge. By doing this they inflate their own numbers.
Many people have more than 1 PC. Yes they might have a Windows 10 Machine. They probably have Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
I have all three OS running. Which one is my main Windows OS and which one is the Windows OS I normally use? Windows 8.1 64bit.
RE: you should do the same.
No I should not do anything I do not want to do. I form my own opinions and make my own choices.
My choice is to stop using Windows as my main OS because of various Windows 10 features. I have been using Ubuntu 16.04LTS as my Main OS initially and it is working OK.
I decided to choose to move to Linux for many reasons, which I have posted about before. Linux is the dominant OS in every other area of computing. Windows is still around for legacy reasons and Gaming reasons and DX11/12 in the consumer space. I feel it is very likely that Linux + Vulkan + Steam will change things in future.
Well you said 32bit.
These are the previous drivers...you can go back to a version that supports 32bit.
Its time to upgrade to windows 10 and get your driver updates mate.
I've tried Windows 10 mate... Used 7-8 months (Pro version and LTSB version), but i dont like this OS. Lot of bugs, lot of trash options and soft which i never use... So i decided rollback to Windows 8.1, and i really love this OS, and dont want return back to Windows 10.
