kernel security check failure

Question asked by bromcjoe on Aug 23, 2017

Describe your system:

  • AMD Graphics Card
    • AMD R9 200
  • Desktop or Laptop System
    • Desktop
  • Operating System
    • E.g. Windows 8.1 64bit (cant upgrade to 10 unless i want to spend money due to installing a new hard drive and only having windows 10 on the old hard drive )
  • Driver version installed
    • Not sure, I used the radeon driver detector tool and it auto-installed a driver
  • Display Devices
    • Not sure of the make but it is a samsung, doesn't matter though

Every time I install a driver using the tool it runs great. But, as soon as I turn off my pc and try to log back in it gives me a blue screen of death and a kernel security check failure. I have read that drivers that arent compatible are the cause. Could it be windows 8.1 and the new driver interacting improperly?
