    ubuntu 16.04.3 linux amdgpu

I'm having trouble getting my Carrizo chip to work on this linux distro with the amdgpu driver. Sometimes I get a blank screen and sometimes I get a normal video display that eventually goes blank. The laptop does not lock up since I can use SSH to log in from another computer and reboot the computer which may or may not give a login screen. The problem repeats itself. Here is the output from lspci and uname:

If I use the boot option nomodeset the display is stable but the resolution is less than desired.

Same for me on a HP Probook 455 G3 A10-8700p, same revision Carrizo rc5, using Arch (Linux 4.13) or latest Ubuntu 17.10.

I can't see anything particular related to this issue in journalctl (only powerplay min_core_set_clock_not_set)

Something strange : when I power the notebook on and wait a moment before lauching Linux (let's say if I "pause" the boot process for 5 minutes  in the boot loader, of if I visit bios setup (but change nothing), when I run Linux, the screen doesn't turn blank during the boot, and never turns wrong until the laptop becomes "cold" again (resume from a suspend after a long pause, or new cold boot). Is it the same for you ?

As far as I understood , manufacturors can adjust some parameters of this APU (TDP and mayby others)...

Can the issue we are facing  with this Carrizo APU come from  a mismatch between this configuration, and the amdgpu driver ?

EDIT ( Dec 14th 2017)  I fixed this issue by downloading, compiling and installiing the latest 4.15-rc3 kernel.

Thanks to amdgpu dc team !
