Linux Driver nuked my sound card

I installed the AMD Linux driver for my RX560 (amdgpu-pro-17.10-450821) on my Linux Mint 18.2 system, and got it to work (yea).

But, since I am connected to my monitor via D-Video not HDMI and my monitor does not have sound anyway, the newly installed (and now only available device) AMD HDA HDMI sound device provides no sound.

And, my motherboard's sound card has been removed as an available device (checked with pavucontrol and aplay).

A "pulse" device is only listed when I type aplay -L.

How do I make my motherboard sound card available to play sound again?

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing pulseadio and ALSA to no effect.

I would rather not have to buy a new monitor with sound to be able to hear sound again.

Thanks in advance for any help.
