i used dxdiag for this
latest working gpu driver without any problems was amd-catalyst-15.7-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit.
asi said before ANY crimson driver gives me BSOD, every version. even the latest 17.7.1.
I also updated my win7 today, installed the 17.7.1 crimson after updating. same problem!
I can tell you that the R9 290 on Win7 works and installs perfectly. It does not matter which version, I have/had them all. If you are using Afterburner, Trixx, Asus, or any other third party controller, there is your problem. I comes down to either your lack of updating your OS (completely)...or it is a user related issue. It's either one or the other.
I am not using any third party progs, and as I said I ran an OS update today after I read your post here, updated everything:critical, recommended and optional. so yeah. guess ill just have to deal with it then. tahnks tho for taking the time.
You have to keep going back to WU and running it until you get the message "There are no more updates available''.
