Ryzen - Ony 1 DIMM above 2666 MHz?

Looking at the specs for the ASUS Prime X370-A mobo, there is a disclaimer:


Due to the limitation of AMD Ryzen processors, memory frequencies higher than DDR4 2666 MHz are supported only when using one DIMM.


Anyone know the story behind this?  I'd really like to use the maximum supported 3200 MHz memory (and have a full 32gb), but according to that disclaimer, I could only use 1 stick.
