I did it for Vega. It better be good...Because it's annihilating my data, even with everything off.
Don't keep us in suspense, Creators update ?
1703, yup, I created the ISO from the media creation tool a few days ago so it was included. Start menu is a pain in the donkey, especially as it doesn't port the existing Windows 8 setup you had which means I need to repin about 100 things, and there's still no "Sort tab group by name" option.
Sadly you cannot block all updates unless you pause updates, which is pretty bloody stupid on Microsoft's part. I have 20GB of data to use per month...
You can "Group App Tiles on Start..." (move/create/rename). Tenforums.com for the Tut.
Group yes, but no sort by name.
Been 11 mths since i used 8.1, guess you mean this
Nope, not talking about the All Apps listing, talking about the pinned tiles view. Biggest headache by a mile: Glitched tiles. Not something I want to troubleshoot at midnight.
look at the bright side atleast you got the registry key right front of ya, cant miss it.
Any luck with that icon prob.
Only thing i can find possibly similar is "Rebuild Icon Cache" Tut. on tenforums.com.
Nope, just ended up deleting them, all the important ones work, probably some holdover from Windows 7 or 8.1.
Can't you use Classic Shell and ignore all the Win10 doo-dads?
I don't mind the UI, I use 8.1 on my Surface Pro 3 and like it fine, I even prefer the Start screen vs start menu since there is no games explorer, really it's the bug Microsoft won't fix of left aligned folder and file names that irks me the most as far as the UI goes. Well that and not having a Games Explorer like Windows 7 has. I'm sure I'll be ticked off when Microsoft decides to reinstall apps I removed (like Movies & TV) and resets associations to Microsoft programs, but compared to how some people are getting major issues mine are relatively mild.
I take that back, my biggest annoyance with Windows 10's UI is when you snap a window to one side, exit out, and relaunch it, it will move back towards the center by about 10 pixels...
Classic Shell for start menu.
Win10 shutup to disable a lot of stuff (including sane configs for updates)
Win10privacy to disable more stuff, even unsintall Windows store apps.
disable xbox dvr
Say it isn't so black_zion. Say it isn't so. You've install a os you hate just because of brand loyalty? Do you really think Vega is going to be better than the top 3 competitors cards that are out now? It's so sad!
here is my fix.. i install win 10 pro and set it up mostly. realized how bad it is.. 9 hours later grabed usb win 10 and box and through in trash. reformated drive and install win 7 and linux. problem gone.
Same for me and it took me only 3 hours until I reverted back to win7 - best read was the X T&C.. you can't sue Microsoft!
Lucky I did not pay $300 for XPro (Australian pricing).. you can evaluate without a activation key.
well i paid 200$ for 9 hours of win 10 and best wasted 200$ i ever thrown in trash can
You could have resold it, or upgraded to 10 for free...
lol yes i know but i had fire flying from my eyeballs over that garbage. so i fixed it. into the trash..lol. thats how i roll i guess
that brings up an idea i just had. i wonder if you simply just remove the wauupd.dll file and stick it somehwere like usb ,desktop whatever if it would just fail to update since it needs that file to check for hardware and software and your credit card info so it knows what you dont need to have installed that you dont want anyway. but it may install it then reprogram the file anyway. not sure..hmmm
I'm on Pro so I get updates on the business branch, after they've been beta tested by all the techilliterate home users, plus I pause updates so I don't get them but once a month.
i had pro as well. hence 200$ .. i just wanted dx12 really. so after i installed it, it updated and began to slow down and freeze. so reboot right ..! adjust some more stuff you cant find and it slows down and freezes. so reboot right. now keep in mind freeze every hour kinda not fun. then i notice folders missing and settings reset. so during all that more stuff stops working. and freezing faster until it just finally ate itself to death. so i was done and win 10 retired before it started. this is the part when the trash can comes in.
so after a minute of thinking i figured its not worth trying to fix every update since it will just be broke again and more hardware, drivers and whatever stop working just for the simple reason microdollars wants you to buy new stuff from there store.. since they dont sell windows anymore its free buy 1 time.. nahh not doing it...
since people arent buying from there store as expected micropennys is in trouble and has to break stuff to sell stuff. im not playing there fun ride...!
WOW someone is brave. My experience with W10.????
My Experience with my windows 7,
My experience with Windows 10:
Ahh Ha...my first victim > How to report Windows 10 bugs to Microsoft?
Nah, to be honest it's a lot less painful than I expected, no major glitches, just minor ones that irk me. I do miss the old Windows Update where i could pick what I wanted to install, like certain device drivers, now it's either all or nothing, and I don't want Microsoft to tell me to upgrade Catalyst drivers.
