What version is your "A8" processor?
Did you check with HP for a bios change when "degrading" your OS?
Go to Windows Update...run it. If you do not get the message "There are no updates available"...then keep installing them. SP1 and All 'critical', 'recommended'. and relavent 'optional' updates must be installed before trying to install any AMD driver. If you are having a problem updating Win7...read this > Windows will not update after a fresh install
Thank you for your answer.
It is A8-7410.
After the first attempt to install the Window 7 driver failed I updated the BIOS provided by HP for that computer. Everything works well except the graphics driver.
What you recommend about Windows Updates is also recommended in the tutorial I mentioned in my first post. Thus I have done that already.
As written in my first post HP does not provide any drivers for Windows 7 for that computer but I only had to look for another LAN driver, all other drivers provided by HP for Windows 10 work well with Windows 7.
It is not possible to install the graphics driver provided by HP (not compatible with your system). That's why I looked for a Windows 7 driver at AMD.
There is only one driver package for all A-Series APUs with Radeon R5 graphics for download on AMD support. But R5 M450 is not in the compatibility list of the driver package.
I forgot to mention in my first post that the device manager shows "AMD Radeon R5 M330" with an exclamation mark (not correctly installed).
The Carrizo processors have had a hard time with Windows Update...it seems they have worked it out with a couple of patches ..Please read > Microsoft update June 13, 2017—KB4022719 (Monthly Rollup) addresses Carrizo APU
These drivers are indicated for your laptop > APU
You are right, it is in the compatibility list - but not compatible
I found a solution: Iobit DriverBooster. The AMD drivers installed by that program work correct. After that I installed the AMD driver package to get Radeon Settings. The drivers in that package are slightly newer than those from Iobit DriverBooster. The AMD installer installed Radeon Settings, the newer driver for Radeon R5 M330 - now without an error - but not a newer driver for Radeon R5.
So I guess it is a problem with the AMD installer package.
ONE QUESTION REMAINED: The driver manager shows Radeon R5 M330 instead of M450. Does that have any impact on the performance of the GPU?
