The main problem with my R7 260x and Hmdi audio driver it's that sometimes it can't recognize the Hdmi input capabilities of my Marantz SR5009 Avr.
If I start my WIndows 10 when Avr is already turned on there is no issue and I can read the 8 ch. and the compressed format supported
If I turn on the Avr when Windows 10 is already started most of the time I got only 2ch and no compressed format supported.
If I disable an d re-enable the "AMD High Definition Audio Device" device I can fix the issue without restart Windows.
But It's not comfortable
I've this issue since a long time, I bought this avr in February 2015 I'm not sure, with Catalyst, there are no problems.

We have an open issue relating to HDMI Audio at the moment, all I can suggest is to keep using your workaround and wait for future driver updates.
