AMD Settings 2017.0424.2119.36535 Driver upgrade crashes the computer

Windows automatically upgrade the graphics card driver to "AMD Settings 2017.0424.2119.36535".

After that, the system became spectacularly unstable.  Within a couple of seconds of logging into windows, the screen would go just white (or black with red lines).  And that is it. The only option was to re-start windows but to no avail, as it would freeze again.

After re-starting in safe mode, I downgraded to the previous driver version "AMD Settings 2016.1121.1657.30480" and the system got back to normal.

There is something very wrong with this upgrade.

Anybody got the same issue?

This is my configuration:

  • Graphics Card: Radeon R9 270 Direct CU II OC
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, version 10.0.14393 Build 14393
