Graphics card: AMD Radeon XFX R9-390P-85 (Two DVI ports, one HDMI port, one Display port)
Motherboard: MSI; MS-7640
OS: Windows 7, 64-bit
Radeon Software Version: 17.5.1
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6, 1100T, 3300 Mhz
RAM: 8 GB, GDDR5
PSU: Corsair CX750M (750 W)
Monitor 1: Samsung Model No. S24E390HL (HDMI)
Monitor 2: Samsung Model No. S20A350B (VGA with a DVI adapter)
At one point I had both monitors hooked up to the graphics card and both were working. I did a complete reinstall of Windows 7, and since then I haven't been able to get Monitor 2 to connect or to be recognized correctly by the OS. When I plug in Monitor 2 using the VGA->DVI connection, I hear a system sound from the speakers which means that the PC is recognizing that something has been connected. However, when I try to go to "Connect to External Display" in the Control Panel, Monitor 2 is listed as a Mobile PC Display and I can't extend or duplicate the displays (I get an error message that says I can't save the settings). What do I do? Please let me know if I can provide any further information that would make answering my query easier. Thanks in advance!
If it worked before it should work now. So at the risk of sounding silly, you did install the graphics driver, correct? If so, right click your desktop and go into radeon display settings and see if you can identify it from there. If you didn't install the graphics driver I suggest the 17.2.1 WHQL driver which works great with my older R9 cards. If you can't find it here, try techpowerup.
