Switched to Athlon X4 880k from A10-7800, now computer freezes and restarts

I upgraded my CPU to the AMD Athlon 4x 880k from AMD A10-7800, but i'm now experiencing that my computer is very unstable, it seems like. It freezes for a few seconds and then restarts at random intervals, without having to run any demanding programs. Is this an indication of a lack of power? I thought as long as the CPU matched the socket (FM2+), it would work.

I might also add that I was not able to attach the heat sink that followed the CPU, due to my lack off space around the CPU, and is therefor using the stock heat sink. As a result of this, I think, temperatures tend to get very high, even when i'm not running demanding programs. Could it be the computer forces a restart due to high temperatures?
