How to install an AMD driver if my OS is installed on an extern disk ?

Question asked by saishin on Feb 21, 2017

I need some help to install my AMD driver.

Context : As part of my job, i am often travelling. In order to play videos games, i have 2 choices :

1) Buy a portable PC for my private usage. But i need to bring 2 PC into my luggages (private + pro), so it's not really a good option for me.

2) Try to install Windows on a extern hard drive and boot on it.

I tried the second option with an extern hard drive SATA3/USB3.0. Performances are good enough to allow me to do anything i want BUT ... my screen is not detected by the graphics card ...

At the end of the installation of AMD drivers (and Radeon software), when i check my configuration on Radeon Settings, no display was detected ... but drivers are well installed :

Version logiciel Radeon - 17.1.2

Édition logiciel Radeon - Crimson ReLive

Version Windows - Windows 10 (64 bit)

Mémoire système - 8 GB

Type de CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6820HQ CPU @ 2.70GHz

Version Paramètres Radeon - 2017.0125.1845.33722

Version du package du pilote - 16.50.2711-170125a-310869C

Fournisseur - Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Version du pilote 2D -

Direct3D® Version -

OpenGL® Version -

OpenCL™ Version - 21.19.413.0

Version AMD Mantle -

Version API AMD Mantle - 102400

Version du pilote audio AMD - Not Available

Vulkan™ Driver Version - 1.4.1

Vulkan™ API Version - 1.0.37

If someone have an idea to allow to my graphics card to detect my screen, that would be great

(For now, buy a 2nd computer is not a option for me ^^")

Thx !

PS : During the installation of AMD package, the setup ask me if i would like to install drivers on an extern hard drive. In each case (yes/no), my screen is not detected at the end of the installation.
