On installation of any driver for my HD 6970 my computer will crash and require a hard reboot. This will always happen at the point of the installation at which the screen flickers.
OS: Windows 10
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (3.20 GHz)
GPU: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon HD 6970
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600W
Troubleshooting already done:
Installation from Crimson 17.1.2, Catalyst 15.7.1, and Catalyst 15.7
Installation from extracting driver from Catalyst and installing from device manager
Installation from windows update
(each time using DDU to clean the system before an install)
Switched PCIe slots
Switched RAM slots (after testing RAM briefly with Memtest 86+)
Prior to uninstalling the previous driver, the computer would crash when starting specific graphic intensive programs. The uninstall fixed that issue.
Could this be anything other than a problematic Graphics Card?
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
