    Dell Inspiron 5555 lag problem

    geokam

      Hello guys,

      I recently bought this laptop:

      Dell Inspiron 5555

      CPU: AMD A10 8700p Radeon R6, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G, 1.8 GHz

      GPU: AMD Radeon R6 Graphics + AMD R5 M335

      RAM: 8 GB

      OS: Win 10 x64

      Radeon Settings Version - 2016.0916.1515.27418

      Driver Packaging Version - 16.40.2311-160916a-307259E

Provider - Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

      2D Driver Version - 8.1.1.1571

      Direct3D® Version - 9.14.10.01221

      OpenGL® Version - 6.14.10.14008

      OpenCL™ Version - 6.14.10.14008

      AMD Mantle Version - 9.1.10.0146

AMD Mantle API Version - 98310

AMD Audio Driver Version - 10.0.0.1

I have updated to the last version of Radeon Settings.

Now, I have 1 question and 1 problem.

Q: Although I have enabled Crossfire in the Radeon Settings (+ the logo option) whenever I run a game the logo doesn't show. So is it working? or is it only visual?

P: Most of the games I am playing are MMO's, now in this particular game, Drakensang Online, I have a lot of lag in particular crowded areas (eg cities). I have no issue whatsoever in dungeons. At first I thought it was the game's problem but after asking around I figured it was only me. So, I tried lowering the graphics to as low as it can get. I even tried to play the game in a small window but the issue remained exactly the same. I have already tried: rebooting my modem/ flushing my dns/ reinstalling the game - removing its' temp files/ used Advanced system care to "fix" any issues/ changed the graphics to lowest (both ingame & in Radeon Settings).

Lag description: the game "micro-freezes" for 0.2-0.5 seconds, then goes back to normal for a while and then "micro-freezes" again randomly. It's exactly the same whether I am playing in Fullscreen Ultra Settings and when I am playing in low settings / small window.

      So, any suggestions?

      Thank you in advance.

1.If game has not good support for crossfire you may have such problems. You must try to disable crossfire and see for changes

2.Try Heaven 4.0 to check that your crossfire and logo works as it should be.

3.Check Dual graphics switch in Radeon settings>preferences>Additional settings

          4.Update BIOS and sound driver

          5.Delete C:\AMD folder

6.Uninstall all AMD software and clean your system in safe mode by DDU program and install 16.9.2 or 17.1.1 driver Windows 10 (64-bit)

              Hello and thanks for replying

              1. I tried disabling it and there was absolutely no change for this game.

              2. I tried Heaven 4.0, Crossfire works as it should, I have no lag and the logo appears in the top right of the screen.

              3. I cannot seem to find this "dual graphics switch", can you tell me which one it is? (although I think that it's probably turned on)

              4.png

              4. I updated both my bios to 12 and my sound driver.

              5. I deleted the AMD folder in C

              6. I went in safe mode, uninstalled my radeon settings using DDU and installed 16.9.2, I dont think I have any other AMD software other than that.

After all of these, I still have exactly the same lag ingame and the Logo doesn't appear...

              Any other suggestions?

I think your graphics system is not dual graphics.

It is a switchable graphics with crossfire support.

You need to try to disable crossfire and assign for your MMO game high performance adapter.

1.Your power cord must be plugged in. Your power plan must be Standard or High performance.

                  2.Read this article closely

redfury I read the links you sent me, I understood the concept.

Now, I tried this "disabling crossfire - High performance" but there was no difference.

Also kingfish, read your links as well.

I tried uninstalling the amd drivers (clean version, with the safe mode option) and installing the latest one 17.1.1 but now I get this error...

Uninstall GPU drivers again and try this HP drivers. You don't need the latest driver for Drakensang Online. You need a stable driver.

Also you can try one of previous AMD drivers like 16.7.3 or 16.9.2, but i strongly suggest you to start with HP driver.

                              geokam

I tried installing the HP drivers - 16.9.2 -  16.7.3 -15.12 WHQL, none of them worked for my MMO.

Do you think I should install those "Chipset drivers" as well (of each version), I tried installing the 15.12 WHQL chipset drivers just before  installing the 15.12 Radeon, but it didnt work as well .

Is there something else besides those drivers that could be malfunctioning - not configured properly?

I think you need install exactly those drivers from my previous reply.

                                  And disable crossfire(for MMO)

You don't need drivers for AMD chipset if you are using win10

Run HWinfo64>sensors only>Logging start and play for the next fps drop. I want to see that log

I deleted the AMD folder - uninstalled the previous 15.12 in safe mode using DDU, rebooted, installed the HP driver you had sent me -  rebooted - disabled Dual graphics (crossfire), installed the latest HWinfo64, selected sensors only and it showed me this message.

                                      warning.png

I clicked Continue, logged in the game, started playing and I had fps drop several times. This is the log file.
