    Wattman crashing during gameplay

    martin_matthew

      Hello AMD community,

      my desktop specs are:

           MSI AMD R9 380 2GB

           Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

           Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.12.1

           Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3

           Intel i5 4460

           EVGA 500B (500W)

           16GB of RAM

           full HD 60hz monitor

I've never had a problem with my GPU until recently, I've installed Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and every 20-30 minutes the game crashes and an AMD warning "Default Radeon WattMan settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure" pops up. I have the graphic settings to the lowest except buffering, that's on the second-lowest setting (I don't want edges to be "spiky"). This error doesn't occour while playing other games such as Rainbow Six: Siege. Is there anything I can do to make it stop?

      Thank you,

reinstall the drivers and select custom install and check only display drivers. you can do that or downclock your gpu. i have rx460 running at default 1212mhz and if i downclock it to 1000 drivers don`t crash. i recommend installing only display drivers so you don`t have to bother with clocks. ive seen screen going black a few times but it doesnt crash the game or the drivers. just alt+tab and you`re back in the game.
