ASUS MG278Q + ReLive = FreeSync FAIL

Before Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition, FreeSync was running fine on the November Crimson driver.

How'd I know? ASUS MG278Q has a GamePlus feature, namely "FPS Counter". This is actually a refresh rate counter, talking about scams. Anyways, "FPS Counter" allows me to monitor refresh rate changes on the fly.

If the value varies, I know FreeSync is on. If the value is stuck at 60/ 120/ 144, or whatever you set as Windows default at all times, you know FreeSync is off.

I did not even need to run a game to see FreeSync kick in. Any YouTube video expanded into fullscreen mode would activate FreeSync.

All that changed after Crimson ReLive came along. "FPS Counter" reports a rock steady 144 value. Both YouTube video fullscreen and games: Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil Revelations 2.

I'd be damned to switch back to the older driver and miss out on ReLive...

Am I missing something? Is this karma for choosing FreeSync over G-sync?
