Re: RX-480 - Low FPS in GTA V with "Very High" Settings on
1.Your CPU is overheated during game
2.Your CPU cooler doing not well its job or there is some problems with contact between CPU and cooler
3.Your video card is not loaded too much and obviously not limit your performance in GTA 5
4. To resolve this problem - start with your CPU cooler.
Overheated?? It's only at 62 degrees Celsius at it's highest according to the PDF, that aint overheated? Im using Corsair H100i
61C is the MAX safe core temp for your CPU. Maybe your Corsair H100i is in silent mode?
Do you really think that 62C on FX 8350 (stock frequency and vcore) is normal result for H100i?

This is what I get using the ingame benchmark,everything very high,ultra,no AA,msaa etc....Crossfire 7950 Boosts,8350 @4.6Ghz.

i'm using an sapphire rx480 4gb with fx8320e 8gb of ram (2x4 1600) and i have this problem with battlefield 4 too low frame rate even in low resolution and graphics... maybe we have to wait till a new driver arrives to solve most of theese problems... also, check the compatibility tap in the radeon control center... deactivate it
Thanks but i have decided to return the graphicscard to the shop. I have never been so disappointed before.
Should have tried disabling vsync first, it's broken in this title like in many others causing low fps when many more is possible.
it's also worth pointing out that while people routinely shout about how "well optimised" GTA-V is for PC when it comes to AMD CPUs it really isn't well optimised at all beasting your first compute module (cores 0 and 1) and barely tickling the others, something FX CPUs were never designed for and don't handle well compared to Intel's chips. Battlefield using frostbite is also very CPU heavy in DX11 mode
Vsync was disabled, my monitor does not support it.
I think you've confused vsync with freesync, vsync doesn't need your monitor to support it as it's just a method of timing frame output by your video card to match the refresh rate of your monitor but freesync is a system in which your monitor actually waits for frames and does require support.
Anyway when I play GTA-V with vsync it locks out at 30fps and occasionally dips to 20 much like you describe however with vsync disabled it hovers around an average of 45 to 50, sometimes climbing over 60 and sometimes dropping to 25 to 30 the drawback of course is tearing artifacts. However is discovered that if I start the game with vsync enabled, then go into the options screen and disable it, go back to the game and do a 360 degree spin and then re-enable vsync the 30fps lock goes away and I get performance equivalent to triple buffering. I still lose frames due to the CPU mind you (I also use an FX 8350)
