So I've always gamed with my HD 7850 on the same monitor I'm using right now. I've always been using 1920x1080 resolution. Last week I decided I'm gonna treat myself for x-mas and got an Rx480. It only has the DP ports and DVI-D port along with HDMI port.
My monitor only has VGA and HDMI inputs, so I cannot do the old DVI-I to VGA adapter trick anymore.
Instead I'm now using an HDMI cable from the card to the monitor. Somehow my rx480 thinks I'm on a TV and changed the quality to 1080p video.
This is a huge problem for me as video is darker and 1080p from a pc output looks all fuzzy and weird.
Things I have tried:
* Turning overscan off
* Custom resolution
I'm now on 1600x1200 res so that it knows the source is from a PC and looks fine. I need 1920x1080!!
It all sounds normal except the fuzzy part.
Under global settings/global graphics make sure morphological filtering is OFF.
There's a few adjustments in Radeon settings and a couple more in radeon additional settings (brightness/colour) but many adjustments must be done using your monitor's controls when using digital connections.
