[Linux / AMDGPU] monitor power cycling disables monitor (and borks screen layout).

Question asked by xaxazak on Oct 30, 2016

Whenever I turn one of my monitors off it is removed from my screen layout.

When I turn it back on it is disabled on the display configuration screen.

Disabling DPMS has no effect.

xrandr says:

Initially: DisplayPort-2 connected 1200x1920+0+0 left

Powered off: DisplayPort-2 disconnected

Powered back on: DisplayPort-2 connected

Is there something I can do to fix this?

I would like to keep my display configuration locked and have my system totally ignore monitor power status.

Is this due to KMS. Can I disable KMS in AMDGPU?

System:

OS: Linux Mint 18 XFCE 64-bit.

Kernel: 4.8 (4.8.0-040800-generic).

GFX: RX 470.

Monitors via DisplayPort (0 and 2).
