HD 7870 not being detected

Question asked by eddiefk on Oct 17, 2016

Recently (I believe after a windows10 update), my graphics card (Saphire HD 7870) stopped being detected by my computer. I turn it on and the screen remains black, the monitor doesn't respond. I am still able to use the PC through HDMI cable, connecting it to a TV. However it shows as if no GPU is connected, and my computer is using the onboard one.

It happpened the first time a few weeks ago, after the winodws 10 anniversary update, but I was able to make it work again by downloading the latest AMD driver.

This time, however, no solution seems to work. I tried everything: removing and reinserting the GPU, reseting bios, uninstall and reinstall the drivers, using the windows recovery tool, disabling the onboard graphics.

How I know the GPU is working? Well, the fans are working.
