Faster memory will not noticeably improve performance with that CPU.

What such a nice motherboard you got, it does support AM3+ interface processors! But all me to be frank it is an entry-level motherboard, because the nVidia Geforce 7025 chipsets provide very limited support for AM3 and above platform. Lack of support of HT 3.0, only working on up to 2MT/s Hyper Transport would put the negative force to the performance of external GPU, and the performance of Geforce 7025 is ... OK, the answer to your question might or might not. The AM3 processor's memory controller is a little bit weaker than the succeeding products for DDR3 modules except support 4-bit chip. So not all the 1600 or 1866 memory modules would work on your system. But everything has another side, if the 1600 or 1866 memory could work on your system. You have the chance to overclock the memory controllor to make it working under up to 1600MT/s. Anyway, good luck!
Thanks a lot for your nice and complete reply!
