Sapphire AMD R9 380 (4GB) green screen issue

Question asked by austing016 on Sep 30, 2016

so, I don't know what is causing this, but several months ago, I built my PC, and as suggested in the title I picked up the AMD R9 380 from sapphire. things were doing fine the first couple of days, then every now and then I started getting green screen freezes every now and then, not too often, wasn't sure what was going on, but eventually it stopped. its been a while since I have had any green screen issues, now today I'm having them again, after not even 30 minutes of playing Star Wars The Old Republic, I get the green screen, no way for it to snap out of it other than restarting or shutting off my computer entirely. I'm not too sure if it's a faulty GPU, some other piece of hardware, or if it's an issue with the drivers/software. I can't seem to check the temp of my GPU, due to in a recent update to the AMD Crimson software causing it to crash when I try to check (never had that issue before a recent update). here's the specs on my PC

GPU: Sapphire AMD R9 380 4GB

CPU: AMD FX 8320 Eight-Core 3.5GHz

Motherboard: MSI Gaming 970

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaw X Series (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866

OS: Windows 10

any help would be greatly appreciated!
