After nearly 2 years of having my FX-8350 BE with no problems, my fan is not being seen on startup about 25% of the time. Can someone help me with troubleshooting, I'm not too sure what to do?
If you know the fan is working correctly, then it sounds like the fan controller is not detecting the RPM. Have you tried using another header?
Could be software or hardware issues. Verify the fan is running and at an appropriate speed when it does not show it running. If the fan is not running, which is doubtful or you'd have all sorts of system issues and the PC would likely re-boot or shut off completely, then you need to replace the fan of HSF assembly if you are using the OEM AMD boxed fan that comes with the CPU.
Well, when I power up my pc and the problem occurs, the fan does not spin. A black screen pops up telling me that it is not detecting the cpu fan. It then shuts down after a couple minutes. I then turn it back on and it powers up and launches the OS normally. It has never done this twice in a row either. It will do it once and always comes on normally the second time. Note it only happens once or twice a week.
Perhaps you could have someone install your CPU/HSF assembly in their PC and see if the problem disappears. If so then it may be a failing mobo. If not it may be a failing CPU/HSF. If you have a local PC club or reputable repair shop maybe they could assist you in determining what is actually failing.
