It is installed as a service if you want to stop the service running. The service acts between the chipset and the USB devices to take over device detection and other USB related tasks. You can remove it but some USB devices will potentially have worse performance.
"It is installed as a service if you want to stop the service running."
Yes but what is it called and how do I stop it please?
I cant locate anything in the task manager that describes it.
If you have the service installed it would be called 'AMD USB Filter Driver' There would also be a usbfilter.sys file installed on your system.
'AMD USB Filter Driver' not found in task nor apps.
usbfilter.sys Found it in system32/drivers
It was updated on 12/17/2015 - doubt this is it.
I had an update request from AMD about a week ago which is the only thing added/updated since. I believe I had a microsoft update as well so checking into it.
Virtualbox Debian build is reporting capture of the usb external drive but when trying to access, "is busy with previous request"
Many suspect/confirm AMD USB filter. virtualbox.org • View topic - Virtualbox 5.0: USB drive fails to attach
How can I turn back the AMD update? Maybe something I can uninstall in the AMD install center?
I rolled back to a restore point of Aug17.
I then declined the AMD Installer request to update drivers.
The virtualbuild/virtualbox then worked correctly as expected in the capture and use of usb external drive.
Thanks for the help and this thread can be closed.
