    AMD FirePro S9150 power connectors

    polkien

      Hi,

We need to install two AMD FirePro S9150 GPUs on our servers. I see this card has two power connectors: one 6 pin and another 8 pin.

      The questions:

      1) Are both connectors required when installing the card to make it work, or maybe only one? which one?

      2) What are the cables we need to connect to the card? (model/names/any reference)

      3) If we have a 4 pin connector, is it possible to use a converter from 4 pin to 6 pin and make it work? what is the converter name/model?

      4) What if we connect the card to a PCIe 2.0 slot? Will this work?

      Thanks!!!

Yes both sets of power cables are required.  You need a PSU which has PCIe 2x 6 and 2x 8 pin cables. The PSU would need to be of sufficient wattage to handle 2 GPUs also.  Generally PCIe 2.0 slots are backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0 cards.
