how can I do a clean install of graphics drivers for Radeon R9  when I don't have on board graphics?

I keep reading i should install graphics drivers and AMD software cleanly but how can I do this with no on-board graphics? My system was fine until about 4 weeks ago. I noticed a windows update had installed a graphics driver over the top of the one that was installed. I have had constant system crashes and reboot loops since. I even did a fresh install of W 10 today. And immediately saw screen with slight pixel faults and crashes started again. My system is basically useless now until either AMD or Microsoft can get their products compatible. Sorry for the moan but I'm at my wits end and first time I've ever posted on a forum. Thank you in advance.
