I was wondering which company has the best reliability ? Is a reference card going to get too hot ?
Well, my choice would be Sapphire ( I don't like cards that come with high oc out the box), and reference cooler will run hotter (spending extra on case fans ?).
Should add that the 490 vega is rumored for Oct.
IMHO a better question is who has the best warranty/RMA service in case things go bad. If you haven't checked already, dig into the websites and find out exactly what's entailed. Some are just pathetic and expensive, others are hassle free.
goodplay has some good points. I avoid OC'd cards they seem to have "issues" and a minimum of 2 fans on the vidcard is needed.
I've owned many Sapphire cards. I have not had any issues with them. My latest 390x is great. ( factory overclocked).
I had one sapphire and it was a dud. The RMA procedure was unnecessarily complicated, expensive to ship, and had extra charges. Last sapphire I'll ever buy. Maybe things have changed.. I hope so.
Had an issue with an ASUS, RMA was super simple (if you have a credit card) They send a new one and you send back the bad one. Done.
Anyhow.. just sayin'
I've really been enjoying my reference style XFX 8GB Black Edition RX480's. I have 2 in crossfire and I am loving them. Really great cards, i cranked the fan speed up to 2500rpm and they both stay right around 75c under load.
