Exactly what the title says. I'm currently at 74C just sitting here on my desktop. No heavy CPU programs are running. Why is this happening?
More INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION ,may help.
And a pic of wattman.
I've had this happen a few times as well.
MSI 990FXA Gaming Mobo
2x XFX RX480's 1328mhz.
850w Corsair PSU
Card 1 will be at 100% Load and temps climbing just sitting on the desktop, card 2 will be sitting at 300mhz clock for both GPU & Memory. It will crash, then after reboot, the memory clock on Card 1 is at 2000mhz steady, even when usage is at 0%
Here's a solution, the only solution that worked for me. Put the PC to sleep and wake it up again. Only way to solve it.
Is your memory clock still pegged at 2000mhz?
Nope, putting the PC to sleep will cause it to peg out again, both on GPU CLOCK and MEM CLOCK.
i ve the same problem . After my PC woke up the RX 480 remain in Power state 7 ( look at Wattman ) = max Clock speed , max Voltage . Work around : I lowered with wattman the specs to from Power state 7 to the from Power State 1 = 300 Mhz ans 810 mv (undervoltaged ) . Now my card stay cool with 55 C and 0 Rpm Fan .
If you wanna play use wattman to reverse the changes .
Memory is OK , it goes back to 300 Mhz , there are no changes needed .
The problem doesn t exist when i restart with Power down / up , only if i use the Sleep mode - but i normally use the sleep mode because i ve no SSD with Win 10 on it
It s an Driver fault , i think . The problem could be that 100 % Activity is shown in Wattman and there is no way to to reset this exept a new start of the PC .
