What I have heard is Zen is going to be faster than the 4690k. Do you guys think this will be true ?
Third party AMD Zen ES Benchmarks Leaked - 10% faster than i5 4670k
Early engineering sample third party tests show it is only 11% slower than the i7 4790k despite a 27% slower clock rate, so by the time Zen hits the retail shelves it should be equal to the 4790, which would make for a very big game changer. The 4790 isn't a slacker in any sense of the word, as it slaughters the FX-8350.
its all gona come down to the price and it depends of what cpu compares to teh 4790k it it the top tier zen cpu that will cost less than the 4790 or more anyway u can just buy a second hand i7 3770 witch at the moment i find them as the same price as a new fx 8350 and of course with huge performance value
I think with all the delays this hurts them with new games like battlefield 1 coming out people will have no choice but to go to intel imo
By the time they patch all the bugs out of it Zen will be on the shelves.
Reddit has a bunch of Zen threads showing a 2017 release. I so wanted it this year, but I remain hopeful that it will compete with Intel.
"Can Zen make that $1700 price tag on the Broadwell-E 6950X seem even more ludicrous? Yes."
"Press was told of a handful of high level changes to the new architecture as well. Branch prediction gets a complete overhaul. This marks the first AMD processor to have a micro-op cache. Wider execution width with broader instruction schedulers are integrated, all of which adds up to much higher instruction level parallelism to improve single threaded performance."
"The IPC of Zen is on-par or better than Broadwell.
Zen will scale higher than 3.0 GHz in 8-core configurations."
