16.8.2 is available, try that one
Same issue here, when you installed the latest version did you do so via the AMD Install manager. It popped up and said updates to all drivers and applications were ready to install and did so correctly except for Radeon Settings which it failed to update with an error message. Since this I've had 2 BSOD's and the same error appearing in my event log shortly after each start up.
Strangely my 'faulting module' is 'Unknown' and not atidxx64.dll as above.

After 4 days i can haply report that 16.8.2 fixes all sorts of wired issues that came with the anniversary update, in particular Windows Photo Viewer, which caused screen corruption and later black screen.
