apu: amd A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 graphics

ram: 8gb installed, ~1100mb hardware reserved
issue: yesterday i updated the driver for my radio r4 graphics in my laptop and after i updated and restarted, i have been having hanging issues where the laptop freezes for a second or 2 and recovered, i do not get "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" but it is annoying when i am recording a game, like minecraft with obs studio (latest version), in game, i get suddering issues.

I had a similar problem with my A10-8700, it turned out that MSI afterburner was causing the problem because of a conflict between the BIOS and changes in the new driver. Turn off all settings in MSI afterburner, uninstall it and then install the drivers. Don't reinstall afterburner and it should work ok.
It has been mentioned many times, Crimson does not play well with third party controller programs...for everybody.
