I would try disabling some of the CPU Power Saving features in the bios. Look for C1E, C6 and Cool 'n' Quiet.
I currently have those settings off. I never quite figured out what causes this with all 4 processors active. It came down to one of three things. 1. My cpu is defective and needed replaced. 2. The motherboard was not sufficient for the fx processor line, which I read in other threads concerning the FX-8000 and FX-9000 series processors. So they advertise that these older boards could handle the new processors but in reality they needed to build new boards specifically for the FX's. Which they have out now 3. I thought I eliminated an overheating issue, but I may not have. So, I finally (after 3 years), ordered a liquid cooler and maybe this will fix it?... If not my last resort will be to buy a new motherboard and reinstall everything, again, but I don't know (back when I was trying everything I ran out of time/money to throw at it). The disabling cores feature was the one constant that reduced the (stress/power/heat?) on the mobo/cpu.
If you like I can post some screenshots of MSI control center to show temps and voltages, click bios 2 to show bios settings, and/or use occt which I think I still have on here somewhere.

If under heavy load your CPU is running above 61C internal core temp, then you have an overheating issue that must be resolved. FYI- Not all liquid coolers can properly cool an FX processor and keep the internal core temp below 61C under full load so if your CPU is currently overheating make sure to check the internal CPU core temp with the new cooler to be certain it is below 61C full load. OCCT, AIDA64, Core Temp and HWiNFO will provide reasonably accurate internal CPU temps in the 60C-70C range.
I waited a week since installing an Arctic Liquid Freezer 120mm to reply back. There has been a significant decrease in the temp. It hasn't gone up past 40C since installing so this definitely eliminated the auto shut off from getting too hot. When I wake it up it idles around 28C, and 39C est. gaming. Huge improvement. I of course turned on all four cores in the bios after installing so... I personally have not seen it freeze up. Not once. I still have quite a few event 41 in event viewer, but my kids (especially the youngest one) doesn't always know how to exit a program, such as a game, when it freezes (crashes). But I can ctrl + alt + delete to get to task manager to close it. Sometimes you need to sign out, and sign back in but I haven't seen it hard freeze (lockup) since. The heat is one aspect but for those still having issues I think it has to do with programs crashing and bottlenecking the cpu, while windows (grrrr) tries to assess and close the program.

The two 120mm fans plus the radiator installed in the intake direction with an outtake fan on the side is working well. Fit my (old) mid atx tower case perfectly. Plus a lot quieter, shhhhhh.
