Not all game engines work the same so it could also be heat. Have you been monitoring the gpu temps and fanspeed?
An easy way to eliminate heat is to use low video settings (AA and AF off or lowest setting) for a game or two and see if the problem persists. This will reduce the amount of vram, and it's heating, you're using which could also be a problem.
My temps are normal, and I've tried turning graphics options down to the minimum to fix the issue, but it still crashes.
