Excessive Alpha Dithering with 16.6.1 Driver Version

Question asked by bluesadam on Jun 13, 2016

Hi everyone,

Once again, I want to ask about alpha dithering problem and how to fix it. I know it can't be completely prevented but with the latest 16.6.1 driver, it became excessive and unbearable. I have a few screenshots from DayZ Standalone provided below. It happens in all games but I didn't take screenshots from other games but can provide them as well if necessary. Other games I tried are:

  • Arma 3
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Dirt Rally

All those games have really bothering alpha dithering problem. Post-process anti aliasing methods seem to work to some degree, but then they also smudge the whole screen, reducing the image clarity and sharpness so I don't want to resort to that method. Links to the screenshots are below:

Please view them in full screen mode as compression makes them less noticable. Also, my system specs are as stated below:

  • AMD FX6350 @4.4ghz
  • ASUS R9 270 DirectCU II 2gb
  • Gigabyte 990xa UD-3 Motherboard
  • G Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb 1600mhz DDR3
  • Cougar CMX 700W PSU
  • AOC E2262Vw 1080p Monitor on DVI
  • Driver Version 16.6.1 on Windows 10 Pro
