BSOD when switching (#'s) external monitors

    anne

I've have a Dell E6440 with HD8600M for about a year in use now, running in 1600x900 (higher resolution is not an option).

I stil keep getting BSOD every day because of a fault in the display driver (0x007).

I at times have to restart 3 or 4 times before the BSOD goes away again.

Most of the times when I switch between different external monitors @ various customer sites.

I've updated the driver almost every day (keep getting notification), currently using 16.15.2401

I've also disabled most of the gaming stuff as this is a work laptop.

Up to today with no avail...

I am really getting fed up by this, so would really appreciate if someone had an idea how I could get rid of this (other than getting another laptop without AMD display).

      Anne.

Can you attach (don't copy and paste) your DXDIAG report in your next response?

As i mentioned, please don't copy paste it, attach it. Example below.

                  Click Use Advanced View

                  Click Attach

                  Upload

Sorry about that, I read C&P, read over the *not* part

                      See DxDiag atatched.

Your laptop display is wired to your Intel GPU, as are any displays you connect to this laptop. I think the cause of your problems could be with the Intel integrated GPU. I have responded to your other thread and would recommend you update your AMD Drivers to the latest version, which is Crimson 16.6.1.

                            • Re: BSOD when switching (#'s) external monitors

The reason I assume it's the AMD HD86xxM display adapter that drives the external monitors is that if I disable it in the Device Manager the external monitors switch off. When I (re)enable it the external monitors switch on again.

I've updated to 16.6.1 but already had another BSOD 0x000007 since then.

Is there a way form me to find out if it is the AMD or Intel display driver that is causing the havoc?
I assume it's the AMD because it always seems to happen after switching # external monitor environments and as mentioned above I assume it's teh AMD display adapter that drives the external monitors.

                              Anne.

DXDIAG says that all monitors are connected to your Intel HD GPU.

Turns out is was unlreated to the display (driver) but was Dells Data Protection that kept getting in the way.
