Which would offer better performance for a htpc? I'm guessing the Gigabyte HD6850, I'm running hdmi only on a 55" 1080 television.
I'm running 2400mhz memory with the a10-7850 on a Gigabyte A88x Sniper motherboard.
The 6850 may have better base performance, but it will probably be notably louder and uses an older video decoding engine.

Though not often I've also seen issues with the legacy drivers on the 68x0 on HTML5 video upstairs.
The A10-7850 has plenty of power for a HTPC for HD decode and playback.
I'd stick with the 7850K also, since I didn't say specifically. It's a fantastic chip for everything except heavy gaming.
