    Which driver for 7870 + 5750

    thijsjuhhh

      Dear,

I was wondering if it is possible to run a HD7870 and HD5750 together in one system?

Not crossfire or something. But i need an extra monitor and dont really want to use the displayports of the HD7870 because one of the screens is a 55'' led tv.

If so, which version of catalyst do i need for this?

      Thanks in advance!

Not unless you use an old driver set because the HD 5000 series is legacy. Why don't you want to use one of the DisplayPort connectors with an HDMI adapter?

Well now im running a HD5750 + a HD4300 series but it switches Windows Aero off on a regular basis.

I figured using 1 HD7870 for 2x 21''screens and 1 55'' led tv maybe it isnt enough power.

So i want to use my old HD5750 or HD4300 together with the HD7870.

Furthermore, i red a lot about the display to dvi converters on forums, nobody really seems to know the difference between a active of passive converter, and nobody really seems to know which of them to use to make it al function properly.

What is the problem with running (for example) the 7870 and 4300 series together and using an older driver version? what are the downsides of that?

Besides being limited to Catalyst 13.9 and missing out on all the improvements and new features of the Crimson release, there's always a chance they won't play nice together, especially if you want to do any gaming.

Also, screen size is irrelevant, resolution is what matters, doesn't matter if it's a 22" 1920x1080 display or a 55" 1920x1080 display, it's still the same 2,073,600 pixels.

This configuration is not recommended, tested or supported but you can try using Catalyst 15.11.1 beta.
