My fx-6300 and msi 990fxa-gd65 system randomly not starting or stuck in B2 error. I can't enter in BIOS updated at release 20.5. Is it there a solution or an incompatibility?
Can you be more specific, is your system able to post?
I succesfully tested my MB with an fx-8150BE but i am not able to boot with the fx-6300BE. The 6300 can boot with the other MB so the CPU is not the problem (i suppose).
When i turn on 2 scenarios can occur:
- pc continuously rebooting without sending signals neither video nor audio (internal speaker)
- pc stuck in a simil boot printing B2 (error? code?) in the bottom right corner and after a minute a blinking cursor appear in the top left and from there nothing more will happen
What do you mean with post? In this board?
Using the 8150BE are you able to see what BIOS version you have, and update it? I had the same mobo with a 8350, so the 6300 is compatible but I did have the latest BIOS.
Post, if you disable to "MSI Military Class" logo from showing when you turn your PC on, you will see the BIOS doing its checks like RAM and SATA devices. The option to remove the logo is found in the Boot menu in the BIOS.
Post back what BIOS version you have.
Yesterday i have successfully update bios to 20.5. I don't have now the possibility to test again with 8120 (not 8150) but with that CPU the system can boot from HD on sata1 and check the only 4GB RAM stick installed.
Thank you again
I see, this post is saying it was the BIOS upgrade that caused it but for the GPU...
New build with MSI 990fxa-gd65 mobo Won't Boot, all blue LED lights on, whats this mean? [Solved] - Boot - Motherboards
Think they may be related? What is your GPU?
This issue is certainly a motherboard one.
And this, on MSI Forum....
990 fxa-gd65 and nvidia gtx support?
Looks like it might be with MSI and that motherboard. Not AMD I'm afraid. Unless you can confirm this issue is with the AMD hardware, but all fingers are pointing at NVIDIA GPUs and MSI.
yes, it seems related
I have installed a GTX 750 ti
Using a radeon with fx6300 still don't boot.
using the fx8120 i can boot and update bios with the gtx 750ti
Might be worth trying a few other BIOS updates, some have said the issue was resolved by reverting to 19.x BIOS.
I cant see on MSIs site for that mobo when the BIOS was made to enable Piledriver CPUs. It may have come from the factory as compatible. Do you still have the 8120 to hand to try other BIOS'. Might be worth contacting MSI as well.
Tomorrow i'll try, thank you very much
I'll keep you updated
In the end i've resolved with an ASUS M5A78L-M LX3...
sorry for the late
By, thanks again
