    Im having problems with crossfire r9 290x's 2nd GPU hardly being utilized

      Hi my name is thomas nguyen

       

      Im currently having problems with my new gpu setup

      I had one gigabyte r9 290x and it worked perfectly

      then a year later i added a 2nd one same brand same everything (also checked that it worked before hand)

       

      Now my problem is that the first gpu is working hard and fine then my 2nd gpu is hardly being utilized (gpu 1 80-100% being utilized while gpu 2 5-10% being utilized)

      Please help (would like to have this setup up and fully running)

       

      PC SPECS

      2 Gigabyte r9 290x's working perfectly fine

      Intel I7 4790k at 4.6 ghz

      Ram 32 gb G.Skill sniper at 2400 mhz

      Mother board asus maximus vi formula

      PSU EVGA 1300 G2

          Just tested on 3d mark fire strike and got a score of 8527 with single gpu

          And a score of 10010 with 2 gpus crossfire x enabled. but significantly more stuttering than with just one gpu

           

          Same problem occurred 100% utilized on single gpu

          while dual gpu settings same. first gpu 100% utilized second gpu 5-10 percent being utilized

           

          If anyone out there knows the problem or solution please do tell me and save me from this problem.

              Are you running the benchmark in exclusive fullscreen mode?

                  Graphics Chipset - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series( Gigabyte r9 290x 2 of them )

                  Memory Size - 4096 MB

                  Memory Type - GDDR5

                  Core Clock - 1040 MHz

                  Windows Version - Windows 10

                  System Memory - 32 GB (at 1600 mhz)

                  CPU Type - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.50GHz

                  PSU - 1300 watt G2 from evga

                  Mother board - asus maximus VI formula LGA 1150 intel Z87

                  This is a desktop

                   

                  Yes full screen mode is enabled for all of my testing

                  From the past 2 posts of mine

                  Both GPU's are registered as active

                  Once testing starts first GPU is able to run at full 100% while the other is only working about 1/6th as hard as the first GPU.

                  It doesnt matter if i switch them one always ends up being used 100% while the other only about 5-10 percent

                  I see people with the same exact setup as mine and they are able to hit upwards of 16-17000 on fire strike

                   

                  Side note Global settings are

                   

                  Anti-aliasing mode - application setting

                  anti-aliasing method - multisampling

                  morphological filtering - off

                  anisotropic filtering mode - use application settings

                  texture filtering quality - standard

                  surface format optimization - on

                  wait for vertical refresh  - off unless application specifies

                  openGL triple buffering  - off

                  shader cache - AMD optimized

                  tessellation mode - AMD optimized

                  frame pacing  - on

                  frame rate target control - off

                   

                  Everything is basically stock nothing has been changed
