Why can't you get into Windows?
I would recommend trying to access safe mode to see if you can uninstall the AMD driver.
Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to get into Safe Mode finally. I then
went into Settings - Apps and chose to uninstall the AMD Install Manager. I
got an error message "AMD Install Manager - Detection Driver Error -
Contact AMD for assistance."
Any advice is appreciated!
Thank you. I downloaded DDU and ran it from SAFE mode. Even though when I rebooted the display was not too crazy, I could tell it was more stable. I then went into Windows Update and it said it had three updates:
1. Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3124263). I received Error: 0x8007045d
2. Advanced Micro Devices driver update for AMD Radeon HD 8250.
3. Advanced Micro Devices - Audio Device - AMD HD Audio Device.
My screen was still very unstable, so I went back and ran DDU again, but this time after rebooting I loaded a file from AMD called: radeon-crimson-15.12-win10-64bit.exe.
When I ran the installation program, I only chose the top three options. The installation process is currently at 19%, AMD Display Driver.
Thank you for your help, I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
So, here's the results of my efforts so far!
The notebook boots into Windows 10, but it is very, very slow. Which implies to me that the video graphics didn't load properly.
I was so frustrated by then that I chose to REFRESH the operating system. But, I got an error message that the drive was Locked. So, I quit for the night and have just rebooted and it is still running slow!
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
