could you please explain the procedure to connect 4 monitors to radeon hd7770 without display port
The HD 7770 can support a maximum of two passive display connections. (HDMI/DVI) You will need to use an MST Hub or else you can only use three monitors.
This video should explain how to connect four displays to a Radeon graphics card. If you have any further questions, please do let us know.
I am planning to purchase Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 Vapor-X GHZ Edition Dual Fan OC Edition - PCI Express Graphics (image is as shown below)
This graphics card has the following ports:
I would like to connect 4 monitors to these 4 ports using the converters. Is that possible? If not please suggest the solution to connect 4 monitors.
Thanks and regards,
That should work, but please consider that some of those connections can display a higher resolution display than the others.
Thanks for your quick reply.
But it is still not clear. You replied earlier that it can support maximum of only 2 passive display connections.
If i connect
1. DVI-I ---- DVI port in micromax led tv
2. DVI-D ---- DVI port in micromax led tv
3.HDMI ----- HDMI port in micromax led tv
4.DisplayPort 1.2 --- HDMI port in micromax led tv
there will be 3 passive display connections is n't it. Pls clarify.
Can some one answer my question please
Sorry for the delayed response.
That is three passive display connections. The 4th display connection will need to use an active adapter as well.
The FirePro HD 7770 GPUs are all able to output up to 4 displays each, but this is contingent on how the monitors are connected to the card. To get four displays working is only possible when using either a direct DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort connection, or utilising an active DisplayPort adapter for the 3rd monitor and beyond. The HD 7770 cards can only output two legacy/passive outputs at one time! (DVI/HDMI/VGA-passive-adapter-connected monitor)
Using an active adapter instead of a passive adapter utilises a small chip inside the adapter that converts the DisplayPort signal to a signal that is usable by a DVI/HDMI/VGA connection, while still maintaining the DisplayPort standard. If you use a passive adapter, it just converts the DisplayPort output to a legacy/passive output.
For a list of certified adapters, you can refer to www.amd.com/dongles, as these are adapters that our certification team has tested with our cards and found them to be compatible with all AMD products.
so the only solution to connect 4 monitors to hd 7770 is to have display port hub.
If any other solution is there please reply
That is correct, without the MST hub you can only support three displays because you only have one displayport.
Can we display documents, videos and other apps like autocad drawings etc... also using radeon 7770 video card in the 4 displays to appear like a single display.
Pls let me know.
