r7 240 drivers not working after install

Question asked by omegaman172 on Jan 10, 2016

Before I begin to describe the issue, these are my specs-

CPU- AMD 6300

Motherboard- Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0

8GB (2x4) RAM

power supply- Rosewill RD600

My recent GPU was an XFX 7700 and I'd like to upgrade by switching to the XFX r7 240 for the extra gig. However, when I installed the drivers and restarted my PC and try to go to the Raedon Settings menu, it gives me tihs error message:

and then 5 minutes afterward it gives me this one:

Failed to create OpenGL context format QSurfaceFormat(version 2.0, options QFlags(), depthbuffersize24, redBuffersize-1, greenBufferSize-1, ect.  Install a driver providing OpenGL2.0 or higher, or, if this is not possible, make sure the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 emulation libraries (libEGL.dll, libGLESv2.dll and d3dcompiler_*.dll) are available in the application executables directory ro in a location listed PATH.

is it a compatibility issue or just something I can adjust in the settings!? Any help would be greatly appreciated as it prevents me from talking to tech support and being on hold for 2 hours .
