Computer switching from AMD-PITCARIN to llvmpipe

I just recently built a new PC and I installed Zorin OS 9 Core 64-bit, based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.  I have a graphics issue.  I have a R9 270 installed as my GPU.  I log in, and I can do everything fine.  My monitor is running at 1920x1080 16:9 and my graphics details say that it is Galluim 0.4 on AMD-PITCARIN, the processor in the R9 270.  But when I shut it off, go to sleep, and load it back up the next morning, my monitor is locked at 1024x768 4:3 and the graphics say Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 128-bit).  I think this is a driver issue and I would like to know if that is the case.  I downloaded this driver:

AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 Proprietary Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 Minimal Video Driver for Graphics Accelerators (Non-X Support)

Main question:  Do I have the wrong driver, or is this a problem with my OS auto-updating and changing the graphics?
