checkerboard corruption r7 240

I have a new Radeon R7 240 card. Running under Windows 10. Used only for business use, no gaming. After running several hours I get random checkerboard corruption on the screen. If I right click the screen and hit "Refresh" the problem gets cured for several hours, until it once again appears. Occasionally the driver seems to restart all by itself with the message "Display driver has stopped working and has recovered." The card is running cool to the touch. Everything else working fine. Do I have a bad card? Should I return it to Amazon?
