I'm can be using Windows 7 Media Player V12.0.7601.18840 or VLC 2.2.1 with a

AMD R7 360 OC2gb card using driver version 15.300.1025.1001

I have made no (known) changes to the config of my machine or the graphics card since this problem started and assume it is a driver problem with .AVI files as other MP4 or MKV files seem to be ok?

At times while watching a TV episode length avi file off my HDD usind WMP the sound continues fine while the picture either freezes and/or jumps with scene changes to a still image of the scene.  If whiel this is happening blank space for an advert occurs as the show resumes the picture is normal again?   For VMC it just freezes entirely and I stop VLC playback altogether.

The codec info is:

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or what I could do to adjust config to improve/allow processing of the file?

It seems to happen at the same places in a particular file so maybe a file data issue?
