Crimson chipset driver 15.12 installation broken

I own a motherboard with AMD 970 chipset and tried to install the current crimson chipset driver version 15.12 on a clean Windows 10 installation. After starting driver setup I am only offered to install the AMD Installation Manager, but no chipset, AHCI or USB 3.0 drivers. When I proceed the installation crashes after 2% with an unknown exception.

I read some threads with similar but not exactly the same problem and no real solution.

Is there are known issue with current crimson chipset drivers?

Is there an possibility to download an older version of the driver from AMD support page?

Do I need separate AMD chipset driver in Windows 10?
