How to Configure Screen Resolution for GPU

I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro Desktop computer with a AMD Radeon Sapphire HD 7950 GPU.

The recommended resolution for my monitor (LG  34" ultrawide) is 3440x1080.

The Sapphire GPU has a maximum screen resolution of 3840x2160.

However, after installing the GPU the maximum resolution listed in the System Preferences > Display window is 2650x1080.

So the question is how can I configure the GPU to access the desired 3440x1080 screen resolution?

Does this GPU require the installation of drivers by any chance, as I have not done this.

Thanks for any tips.
